From painting to sculpting and photography to music, the arts should be accessible to every child and Free Arts NYC is one step closer to making that happen.
Below is a note from our Founder and Principal Photographer, Alexis, about the impact the arts has had on her life.
It was wonderful to spend the day with you all celebrating the arts and creativity and raising funds so that the arts can be a part of all kids’ lives. When I was in college I volunteered my time with the Free Art Days program and it was both rewarding and also brought back memories of my own childhood. Art classes from Kindergarten through High School, both in and out of school, helped me succeed. I was never a strong academic student but I was able to find my voice and personality through art. I went on to go to art school at The Fashion Institute of Technology and have had a successful career as a graphic designer for over a decade due to my involvement in the arts as a child. For many years I’ve run my own photography businesses, first working with kids and families and now with businesses who help bring inspiration, imagination and exploration into every child’s world, just like Free Arts NYC. I could go on and on about how the arts have impacted me and I know Free Arts NYC is doing the same for every child their programs reach.
We had a great time photographing all of your families and the fun being had at Free Arts NYC Kidsfest 2019! With so many creative vendors and craft stations, below are just a few of our favorite images. The full gallery is linked below.
